Hey guys, when i bought my am stand strat, i noticed on the neck pickup, the B string magnet was very low and probably around 1 mm under the plastic p/up cover, but i also saw it had seom sticky waxy kinda crap on it, so i managed to get some of it off but between the gap there still remains a bit of that whitish clear substance. Was it meant to be there??? oh and is that magnet meant to be that low?

Yes the wax should be their. It's from the potting process, it's common.

Yes the magnet should be that low.

Hi KCW1229: to help prevent microphony pickups are coated in wax - known as "wax potting". I suspect Fender have a more mass production method for doing it than this:

What exactly did you take off?

If you've wiped the top of the pickup to get excess wax off, your probably ok.

If you've taken the tape off the pickup and gone scrubbing at it with a wire brush, it's likely ruined.

Just put the pickup cover back on it, put it back in the guitar and step away slowly.

Nah you'll only know if you've bust it by trying it out. If so it's not the end of the world. They can be repaired. It's not always worth it though with modern ten a penny pickups.

Hmm.. Listen, just leave the pickups alone OK? You're worrying me!
