Hi, all - I admit this seems like a lame question that should have fifty legitimate answers, but consider this: I can't find the one I'm looking for, and it makes no sense to me. I recently picked up a '72 reissue Strat with the period-correct white/black/white pickguard. The previous owner ditched the trem cavity cover plate (drives me CRAZY when people do this!), and I'm finding it next to impossible to locate a replacement. Yeah, I know how to search and I know how to locate retailers who sell genuine Fender parts. BUT - 3-ply, 6-hole, w/b/w? Can't find one. Black, sure. Single-ply, sure. 3-ply with single slot, sure. I ain't gonna settle, here. I contacted Angela Instruments, the biggest dealer in Fender plastic I've found yet, and I'm not sure if THEY can locate one for me.

I don't wanna have to custom-order one of these for $50 or more from somebody - can someone point me to a source I haven't stumbled across yet?

Well - at that price, I might try one, Bob. Don't have any experience with Warmoth, but I once purchased a Mighty Mite Telecaster pickguard with slightly off screw hole spacing.

My point was that I can't find a genuine FENDER replacement piece - you'd think that would be an easy thing to locate. :?

Guitarpartsresource.com has vintage Fender backplates. They may not actually BE vintage, but they are genuine Fender and should fit a vintage guitar. They cost anywhere from about ten to thirty bucks depending on the color and number of plys. They also have cheaper (about $5-$20) with a larger variety of colors aftermarket backplates, but they are not Fender. So you have to decide whether you want cheap or authentic.

Just a heads-up. I've been really disappointed with the aftermarket and Fender branded back plates that I've seen and ordered lately. Although the holes align OK, these back plates are much smaller than what was used just four years ago! You can see this immediately when you notice how close the corner holes are to the edge of the plate!

I have yet to find an accurate reproduction!
