Well, I'm guessing the string spacing difference between the MIM Classic '50s and an Am Std Strat might be an issue. Hopefully, some of the experts here will respond... The Am Std has 22 frets vs. 21 on the Classic '50s. I wonder if that causes any problems?...

No problem at all. Just check the screw holes line up ok and slap the new neck on.

As far as string spacing goes, all the excitement is over once you get from the bridge to the neck pickup. So dont worry about it guys.
