Just bought a 54 thin skin reissue, love the sound! Plus I was born in 54. I know these were sold in a limited number of retail
outlets. What's the story? How many were made? What are the specs and how are they different than the raeal deal?

I've got one too Jeff. Love the hell out of it.I think Troy at Wildwood once told me production was in the 250 range. Mine was made in June of 2008. Great guitar.Vintage tremelo, jumbo frets, vintage tuners, oversize C neck, Custom Shop 50's pups, 9.5 radius............ 8) Mike

I've looked at the 54's and the 59's at Wildwood and they are some nice guitars. I have to quite looking as the Ninja had me gassing for a VOS 59 Gibson this morning. I'm easily swayed  I still want a La Cabronita and I know none of these guitars will be mine anytime soon!! :( Nice guitars guys!! 8)

Congratulations to you both!!

I just bought a 59 thinskin in white blonde and I couldnt be more pleased.I chose the 59 because of the neck profile.I think 250 sounds about right. There are only 3 places in the world who sell these special runs.I like them because you get the avri series with slightly different specs.Mine came with 50s custom shop pickups and I love the tone of those things.By far my favorite pickups .I was born in 58 , so it was the closest thing they had. Seriously though, for the price you cant beat it. I ordered mine from Wildwood and it was a pleasure to deal with them.My next purchase would likely be a Custom Shop guitar, but thats further down the road.

Any more info on these?

A run of 250? Wildwood has them for around $1600. That's a great price for such a limited run?

You said that only a few dealers had these? Any idea which ones? I'm assuming Wildwood, unless these are pre-owned. Or, why only a few dealers?

What year were these made?

Just wondering. These look great, but the thin skin concerns me.

Wildwood , Daves guitar shop and Music Machine are the only ones I know that have them.I think 250 sounds right. They are the same price as a regular American Vintage Reissue.Mine came with a cretificate stating it was a special run .All in all a great guitar.Pretty close to custom shop quality as far as I can tell. These guitars allow you to get a Vintage reissue guitar with a 9.5 radius and 6105 frets .The pickups are very glassy and clear.Great highs. My experience from Wildwood was great too. They set it up with the lowest possible action without buzzing and put new strings on it .If you are looking for a high quality guitar, I would recommend the 59 thinskins .
