What is your "go to" amp when playing your Strat? Do you have more than one amp and find that a certain one just sounds better with it?

I personally have three amps: 1: Fender Blues Jr. with a Celestion Vintage 30 - sounds good clean, not so much distorted with the Strat.

2. Marshall 50 Watt Tube Combo - JMP Lead Mk 2. from around 1980. Sounds great at super high volumes of course. Not that great at bedroom levels.

3. Vox AC15C1 - I love this amp - it loves my Tele and My 62 Hot Rod very much. This has become my go to amp for my single coil guitars. My Les Paul sticks with the Marshall.

I had three amps,

A Fender Hotrod Deville 410, Fender Frontman 212r and Fender Blues Junior.

For Home I use the Blues Junior which gives me good tones both clean and distorted at low levels and it makes all 13 of my Strats sing lovely tones.

It works really well with my pedal board especially the Boss CS-3 which really bring out that single coil sound.

I've found the blues junior to bring out the Mid/high range spank from pretty much all of my Strats.

I especially use my HRD 410 for gig's, because I play a lot of outdoor gig's and festivals I have never had a problem with anything with this amp.

This baby for gig purposes, is definately my go to amp.

It gives me that lovely Fender Tone across all frequencies, If I want bottom end.. I get it, If I want Tele Twang.... I get it...definately my go to amp for everything besides home use.

The Frontman was my first amp before the HRD 410 & the BJ exactly in that order.

I used it only twice for a couple of outdoor shows....Great clean tone, plenty of ooompphhh to cut through the band...but I was missing that girlfriend for my single coils.."Valve"...hence as to why I purchased the BJ and the HRD 410.

I think that the frontman is a great amp, but I wasn't using it so I recently sold it...pretty much in brand new condition.

So overall, My Hotrod Deville 410 wins hands down..

Hi Mike,

You have just made me fall in love again... :P

Over the years I have come to understand that the mentallity of Australian muso's and maybe other people outside of the States in other countries view Vintage Fender products as the Holy Grail. Is this the same thoughts in the US or are they a common thing..However I am Jealous Mike...In our land down under coming across these babys are like trying to find the Holy Grail..and if you do find one, you may as well sell your house to buy it.

Lovely Amp my friend...

Thanks KK. It's the cats $@! to me. I removed the stock Oxfords and put in a pair of Webers 12F150's and it drips mojo. These amps are very much in demand here in the USA. Picked this one up about 8 years ago for 700.00........... 8) Mike

These low-to-medium powered Fenders seem to favor my Strats......

Image

In the foreground, a '65 (not a re-issue) Princeton Reverb with a CTS alnico 10 from a '67 Super Reverb.

At the left rear, a 2 x 10 Bandmaster combo conversion with a pair of CTS alnico 10s from a '74 Super Reverb.

In the center rear, a 2 x 12 Princeton piggyback converson with a pair of JBL K120s.

To the right rear, my "Spankmaster Reverb" -- a DRRI in a larger cab sized for a 15" JBL D130F.

The only thing I add to the mix is a Fulltone OCD which provides just the right amount of "grind".

Interestingly enough, I've had my Clapton for more than a year now and I don't think I've played it through my Dual Rectifier even once. Haven't had the chance. I don't have a band together at the moment so my amp hasn't moved out of the corner. I've only used it with my Blues Jr. Interesting. I may make a trek to the practice studio pretty soon.

I just recently purchased a VOX AC15C1 with a Greenback. I love it. Now I am waiting on my Timmy pedal.

I can't say enough about the new AC15. It has a great clean tone and breaks up nicely.

Ive been buying a lot of new amps lately, just collecting a few from the new "lunch box" amp fad - but, when its time to get down and play some guitar, my '66 Bassman or '65 Deluxe Reverb get the nod!!!
