Hi - I'm converting a strat from a Kahler trem to a vintage 6 hole trem. You might have seen my build thread on the strat forum.

I know that the mounting screws for the trem are drilled 25 1/4" from the nut. Can anyone give me the measurements from the center of the mounting screw holes to the front of the rectangular hole for the trem block? Also, how wide should the hole for the trem block be?

I'd appreciate if anyone has the measurements - thanks.

Hi Kong!

I don't have the spec for a vintage trem but I can sort you out with some pics and measurements for a standard trem cavity.

I'll post them this evening (uk time)

Andy

Sounds good, thanks Andy.

I could take apart my other MIM strat to get the measurements, but I really don't want to do that since I know there may be differences.

Hi Kong: I'm sure you'll have the answers you need shortly. But if somehow not, then I'll be back in the presence of my '57RI Monday night and will be very happy to pull it apart and accurately measure it for you then, if that would help.

However, I think Andy's standard trem measurements (above) will be perfectly good enough for your requirements.

Keep up the good work!

Cheers - C

Hi,
So you want to convert a Strat with a Kahler trem to a vintage 6-hole trem, then you'll have to fill in the recessed area where your Kahler trem is mounted first. I have a vintage Strat blueprint which will give you the dimensions that you will need in order to mount a 6-hole vintage trem. This reminds me of the modification which David Gilmour made to his famous black Strat. If you are interested in a copy of my vintage Strat blueprint you can email me at: d.daniewicz@comcast.net

I was soooo un-cool at school. Trust me Kong mate, you've done a far better job on your Strat than I could!! Between you and me....I'm quietly waiting for my first "Fail" on my build. It doesn't usually go this well! :D

Anyway...

I've measured up my spare Strat body. Its good enough for my needs but Its not a fender so I rekon it's worth getting confirmation form Ceri and /or ddanewicz (I'd be interested to know how far out mine is!)

I hope these help.....
