For some reason, I am getting this idea that you like Lace Sensors! Wow, It said Ebony Frost right on the sales tag? One does not see this color very often. In most of my Fender literature it lists Mystic Black for a transparent black with solid black around the edges using the Ash laminate. And I see now you posted another picture of this guitar before you changed the pickguard! Image

Yeah that's the first day I got it.

The receipt has it listed as 011-9502-759 DLX STRAT PLUS EBONY FROST. If anyone knows what the numbers mean.

The guy paid $760 total for the guitar and Fender case. Not bad a price.

That's the one you sent me the pick guard for. The guy who sold it to me gave me the original reciept with it and GC had it listed as Ebony Frost.

This pic isn't that good. I'm usually in a hurry when I take pics, so don't spend a lot of time setting up shots.

Whoa, a Mystic Black Strat Ultra with a maple neck! Nice :P

BTW, the humbucker is a Purple/Emerald Dually.

That's a Plus Deluxed wired like a ultra, and the humbucker is a red dually. You can just make out that it says Fender Lace Sensor, which when Fender was involved, I think they only had the Gold, Red, Silver, and Blue. The other colors came out just the Lace Sensor label, correct me if I'm wrong.

Hey blertles, Man I almost bought one of these off ePay a while back. It went a little higher than I wanted to go. Support to have a nice V shaped neck and I like the batter access in the back. Would be interested to compare the quality on these to the EC Strat.... I know my 89 EC Strat is one of the sweetest playing guitars I have.

Try Ishibashi- they seem to have a lot. Actually, Im not too sure they are making them anymore- they would have phased them out this year if they did. Anyways, the Japanese market love their lace sensors. They seemed to come in Fiesta Red, Olympic white and Black.

I think the quality would be high- they are the premium line of re-issues, like a modded series if you will. Ceri has one with texas specials I think.

I have also seen a good quantity of modded am. std strats with laces, Strat Plus, Plus Deluxe, EC strats with laces (lots of early models) and I have even seen an early Jeff Beck model in purple metallic with laces all on Ishibashi. :) I think EC is a very popular figure with japanese guitarists because there seems to be a lot of early sig. modeles with gold lace pickups floating around :) Hell, I even bought my plus from them :D

The Elite pickups are supposed to be earlier versions of Lace Sensors, but in reality they're not.

Image

In fact, they're special-design active single-coil units with AlNiCo V magnets.

These weird Elite pickups caused a controversy when the Elite Series came into the scene in 1983. Later, Fender Japan released its own version of the Elite series, featuring a 22-fret neck with a flat 9.5" radius and medium-jumbo fretwire. The Japanese Elites were taken out of production in 1986.

The Elite Strat served as the basis for the Eric Clapton signature series in 1988. Ty Tabor used an Elite Strat on the early King's X albums. The pickups and the preamp are now rackmounted.

The Elite's preamp was designed by James Demeter and John Carruthers.

I like Floyd trems, some call people like me strange. But I do not like that trem... it looks like a complicated and awkward thing to use... :)

That rout would be big enough to park a c class mercedes in.

I agree, the Freeflyte bridge was a PURE DISASTER!

There were good points, though: the improved pickups, the effective active circuit, the EasyGlider string trees and the BiFlex truss rod system.

Huh? In that guitar it's just a blue, silver, and a red dually. It was originally blue, silver, and red, but the original owner swapped out the red for a dually.

Just an observation,

This thread is 6 pages long. For a topic about a single line of pickups, I havent seen a thread this long. Not even with the new N3 series.

That speaks volumes about Lace Sensors doesnt it? :)

I think Mr. C Build thread was longer! I was watching some great videos on You Tube the other day. Like when Clapton played with Harrison. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qgyk5yTVqfY Two guitarist used Lace equipped guitars. Clapton had his Blackie of course.

Hey I was just wondering, any of you Lace users tried the new Lace pickups such as the Green, Purple, Light Blue, etc.? I have a custom Ultra setup with Green/Green/Purple dually. Pretty nice tones. Way different than the standard Ultra Blue/Silver/Red Dually
