That makes me sad...The Strat Plus/Ultra is my favorite of all Fenders. I'm a big fan of LS. I have a 1989 Strat Plus with a Blue (b)/ Silver (m) / Gold (n) set up. Xhefri, we spoke earlier about a set of Purple/silver/purple for my other strat. I'll let you know when I'm ready.

I also put a red one in my Jaguar (bridge). No more buzz or annoying feedback when I use the slightest bit of gain..

keep in touch! I think I need to order some more Purples so give me warning! Lace has been out of those Chrome Domes for like 6 months now. I bought the last of what they had. Those are some nice pickup, not only classy looking, but sound good as well.

Another great performer who uses Lace Sensors is Bobbie Manriquez (Google his name. Like his funky style and sound). He played with Wilson Picket and several other big names in the industry. Great guitar player, as well. Here is is playing 2nd to Jeffrey (Skunk) Baxter. Check out his Strat Plus guitar and also Skunk's solo!

"Skunk" is a huge fond of guitar synthesizers.

I've seen a couple of videos showing him playing a Roland G-505 with a plexiglass body and a Fender neck attached on it.

Jeffrey uses modified American Deluxe, Mexican Classic and Custom Shop Stratocasters with a built-in Roland GK3 MIDI pickup these days.

Hello, Jeff,

Thanks for replying.

You guess right, I also speak Greek. Good on you.

I posted some pictures of Jeff Skunk Baxter as a reference because I've found that you've mentioned his name on your last reply.

The "Skunk-o-Sonic" pickups on the plexiglass G-505 Strat copy resemble very much to a set of Gold Lace Sensors with black matte covers.

And yes, Jeffrey's solos are amazing as always, not to mention Bobbie's tasty funk licks.

So have you ever compared them to Fender Noiseless Pickups? They were suppose to be the "competition" according to the folks at Lace.

Man, I have tried the Noiseless on lotsa different guitars. I do not like them at all. I'm sure they are fine for some people but for me they really lack the b@ll$ that LS have. Clean or dirty, they fall short for me. Even the N3s.

I am right with you on this....I had a 2000 DX Strat with the Noiseless and sold it two weeks after I got it. Played it through like 4 different amps and with various pedals and never could get "the sound".

Id be happy for some of the MIM Deluxe models to be dropped in favour of a model that sports Lace Sensors. I dont understand why not. Yeah Im sure that they dont get much requests for them but Noiseless, SCN's and now N3's are pushed in favour to the market rather than Laces.

I bet most would say that Laces are more toneful :) and, a strat plus MIM re-issue? they did it with the HR models, the plus line are just as popular

:)

Id'd be all for it if my Strat Plus would continue to increase in value. Since they were dropped, the availability has gone down and I have noticed prices going up. Not that it matter as I would NEVER sell mine. I know, never say nevr but in this case I will NEVER sell it.

Pickups in my opinion are very weak pickups as far as output and tone. I have tried adjusting heights, used diff amps, and compared to other nine guitars I have and they are very weak pickups, sound flat in my opinion and for soloing not crispy and fluid sustain. I have a strat with Lace Hot Gold series and it blows away my new Am. Dlx Vnek with N3 noisless. So Im going to replace them with Lace sensor Red, Silver, Blue instead, I need gain and sustain. Will do that with Solid state heads, but not tube heads and I have marshalls and bogners along with Fender 65 twin reverbs.
