Hello all,

I have a Mexican Strat, I tried to find info on Fender site, but seems the site doesn't have any info of my guitar.

My Strat serial no. is mz6137169

Could anyone please give me some info, like model name or even string spacings of it? Because I'm going to order a Callaham bridge, saddles and Trem Block for it.

Any help will be deeply appreciate.

Thanks so much.

Phil

All the serial no' tells us is that it's a 05/06 Mexican strat. Were not privvy to fenders database of serial no's.

Either post a picture of it or email customer support.

Ummm, you can measure the string spacing with a ruler (E to E). Should be 2 1/16" for a MIM.

Post a pic and we can probably help you out faster than Fender customer service. Or just tell us what model MIM you have: Standard, Classic Series, one of the MIM artist series, etc etc? Fender has your model on its website, just let us know what model it is not the serial number.

Thanks guys, because the Strat is not with me right now, my friend borrowed it.

Could you please tell me where to find the model name on the Strat? I could ask my friend about that.

Thanks heaps again.

Umm...I could certainly be wrong but I think that's the kind of stuff the OP is asking about :-).

Sorry...not trying to be rude but that kind of response to me is like a kid who asks his dad how to spell "Zygote" and his dad tell's him to go look it up in the dictionary. The kid looks at his dad and says, "How am I supposed to look it up if I can't spell it?", LOL!!!

I agree...I'd contact Customer Support via email. While I've personally had my gripes about Fender's Customer Support in the past, I do have to honestly say that they were very prompt and pretty informative earlier this year when I contacted them about the '03 MIM that I purchased at a guitar show (and I still think the guitar looks a bit odd for a Standard! LOL!). It only took them a couple of days to get back to me and they provided me with (what I assume) is the stock listing info on the instrument based on it's serial number...which is quite a bit of information obviously (although not exactly "Everything you ever wanted to know about your Strat but were afraid to ask..."...you can never have too many details about your Strat :-).

To the OP: I agree, if you can't get a hold of Fender's CS for some reason, post some pictures....heck...post some pics anyways! Most of us around here always enjoy looking at Strat pics! LOL! If possible, do try and include pictures of the neck pocket, the heel of the neck and under the pickguard as well...shots of this stuff can be a lot more "telling" to some of the folks here for trying to find information. Either way, yea...lots of nice, big, clear pictures! Guitar pictures...always a good thing around here :-)

I will say that there's a better than average chance that the guitar is probably just a Standard series. Several (very good) models have in fact come out of the Mexico plant but the majority...at least the majority of MIM Strats that I've seen personally are most often times Standards. Usually if it's something special such as a reissue of some kind, usually there is something that sets it apart from your average Standard...the 70's reissues for example...no mistaking those for your average MIM Standard! LOL!!! Same thing goes for the Roadworn's as well...pretty easy to tell a RW from a Standard (hell, the price alone tell's ya there's something different!). Other clues might include an 8 bolt pickguard and the truss rod adjustment at the heel of the neck...this might indicate a 50's reissue of some kind (although not always as my '85 Squier MIJ clearly shows!). Even the hardware and the pickups can sometimes give you a clue.

Anyways for most newer Strats, Fender's CS is usually your first best line of action and then let us all see some pics of it and let us know what Fender says!

Peace,
Jim

No offense taken. I overlooked the part where the OP asked for model name. Oops.

Just take a ruler and measure the string spacing. It's not that hard. That's all the info you need to order the correct parts.

Lots of info there but lacking the one piece you really need to buy the correct Callaham bridge and block: String spacing.

Take a ruler and measure it.

I checked the string spacing for Mexican Strat Classic series, it is 2 7/32.

Thanks for reminding me. :)

Well, as bluesky said, you're gonna want to measure it just to make sure. Your listing there says "Vintage style", which I guess technically speaking is what both of my MIM Standards have...and both do have the narrower metric spacing. However being a "Classic Series" and a "60's Stratocaster", there's a very good chance it could also have vintage spacing as well.

That said if you look at Callaham's page here...

http://www.callahamguitars.com/blocks.htm

about half way down you will see a listing that says "Made in Mexico Classic (50's,60's,70's) or Mexican Gold Plated Deluxe" and you'll see that it uses the "Vintage Repro Block enhanced" so they are aware of these models. I would simply email them or even call them and tell them what you have...although they may ask you to measure as well just to make sure, I'm guessing they should be able to help you with minimum fuss.

Good Luck!
Jim

You should still measure before spending the money. As a twist on the old saying:

"Measure twice, spend once."
