Is the nut on the Deluxe Series bone? I assumed it was plastic, but I haven't been able to find details. Specifically, I have a Lonestar neck on a Roadhouse body....

It's meant to be Rock Lobster but someone at control misread the memo.

I hope it turns to Noob at 10K.

I have a PDF file parts list for a MIA Powerhouse Stratocaster and it does indeed list a BONE NUT! I don't know about the MIM Deluxe of the same PH configuration. I wish I could find some definitive NDT so I could check (just found the list for MIM and it too is specified as bone - same model number, same list).

Directly from Fender 8) (this site):
First, the part diagram... see the arrow #3. http://support.fender.com/diagrams/stratocaster/0139500_02A/SD0139500_02APg1.pdf

Then the list. #3 is Bone Nut http://support.fender.com/diagrams/stratocaster/0139500_02A/SD0139500_02APg3.pdf

As a further peek revealed... many, many, MANY of the Strats have a bone nut. I am assuming that it is the actual material and not a generic name for the nut.

My anniversary deluxe isnt bone nutted. Infact I dont have a fender guitar that came with a bone nut. All of them are synthetic, including the customshop.
It makes not one jot of difference to the sound anyway.

Is it similar to this "Tusq" Stuff that Graphtech use?

It's a little harder than Tusq, and no where near as hard as bone. I dunno what the stuff is made from, corian or whatever it's called?

Just think Fender knock out on average 100,000 guitars a year per factory. Say to be generous you get 25 blanks per leg (and that is really generous, but its a easy number). You'd still go through 1000 cows a yer per plant.
Now I know fender can afford, when you look at all the cow bone used in other industries (gelatin for example) availability could be a problem.

With all the hamburgers McDonalds's sells every day, they probably have more bones then they know what to do with.

Nah just think of all the cow bone that goes into gelatine. That stuff is used in nearly everything.

Assuming that I have a bone nut on my strat, is it Jersy, Herford, Gurnesy or Longhorn?
