This is a debate which Fender fans will always discuss. Which is the cooler headstock: the 50s style smaller head, or the 70s style larger head. What is your view?

I always hated the large 70's headstock. Even when they were new I prefered the older small headstocks.

For me it's the 50's headstock. The 70's ones looked like a cartoon version of the original Fender headstock to me.

50's style is the only way to go with a strat. i've done everything I can to mine to make it look like it came from 1956. while still playing and like it came from 2003. unfortunately, some of my modifications couldn't be masked, like the killswitch or locking tuners. I wish there were locking tuners that came in vintage style.

The 50's style headstock has it for me - then again there are sonic benefits to the larger, CBS era headstock. In my experience, I have noticed a slight downward shift in tone that enriches the mid and lower mids to create what some call the "70's tone".

Not too much an issue for me, but the 70's looks more retro and it's heavier which can be good , yet the 50's looks more classic. Guess it depends on the mood. 8)

The strat headstock looks awesome on acoustics tho.

If the guitar sounds good, I don't care what the headstock looks like, but to answer your question, I prefer the traditional (smaller) ones.

i prefer the smaller headstocks and maple fretboard.
both my hyway 1 have 70s headstock and rosewood fretboard. but they play good. next strat will either be an american, a lonestar, or roadhouse,
white with maple fretboard.

now which do you prefer, humbucker or single coil?
