Indeed! And at the sights to see... Andy, I think at this point no-one minds if you can't drill a straight hole. Your thread was about crafting a beautiful guitar, not a piece of swiss cheese! ;-)
Really, mate, she's a stunner. And I ain't even seen her put together yet!

Well done!

Is there a BigHairyCustomCase in the planning for this guitar? I see white plush lining in a dark, antique converted chest of drawers or the likes... Any plans? Or are you fed up of building now? ;)

Keep the good stuff coming! You're nearly there!

P.S.: Ceri, check out this thread from new forum member Awesomejohn (he really is in a way awesome 8) ), I bet you'll be tackling some Mother-Of-Pearl inlays in your next build project... Cheers!

Hi Andy,

Not been on here for a while but In a way thats a good thing, as I've had lots of awesome guitar building to read up on! :)

I'm a fan of the oil finish, and the striped wood inlay, also I love the wood accessories for the s1 switches and trem arm!

One of my favourite strats, can't wait for the next instalment!

Cheers,
Drew 8)

No plans for a case but I intend to make a few guitar stands at some point.

Enjoy!

P.S: Tired_guitarist, just wondering hows your wiring coming along?

Very nice work Andy.

Those knobs are the cat's (Randell's,) pyjamas!!!

Nice homemade accessory kit. Showing off is cool, when you pull it off.

Hey, thanks Andy it's kind of you to ask :) That picture with the scratchplate in place looks very cool indeed!

Well the wiring isn't going very well, I went along with the supplied wiring diagram, and when I plugged the guitar in there was a lot of buzz.

It was odd though, as for certain positions on the 5 way switch I could turn one of the tone pots down and the buzz would disappear, then on a different position on the 5 way switch the buzz would come back and the other tone pot would turn it down? :?

I then downloaded a wiring diagram from the Squier website and between that and some of you guy's advice, I found I had missed some grounding wire. But this made it worse? After that I had to give up as my head was fried  So I guess I've either not soldered properly or maybe burned out a component somewhere? Anyhoo I'm going to strip it down and start over again, take 2 I suppose :)

Apologies for the long post,

Drew 8)

Andy, I find all aspects of your build UTTERLY AMAZING. Really fantastic, a work of art! This thread will rank among the best builds ever shared on these forums. Those knob inserts, and trem arm tip and switch tip are just too much! Top job, mate 8) .

Hi Drew,

Sounds like a grounding issue to me. Give me a couple of weeks and I'll post a thread on standard Strat wiring with a ton of pics for you to peruse. I'll throw up a few of my favourite mod diagrams too. A bit of practice mate and you'll be fine!

Right, I'm off to weight the body and take a few more pics while its still naked before I start installing the hardware! Almost done folks! :D

Cheers!

Andy that would be absolutely brilliant! And thoroughly appreciated as I know how busy some of you guys are :)
Until then I've saved all the old pots and switches I replaced, so I will practise in the meantime soldering those together.

And I don't think I would be alone in saying I can't wait for the hardware to start going on!!

Thanks again,
Drew :)
