I just inherited this Strat and it's my first. Anyone have some ideas on what the story on this double tone pot is? There's a distinct indent when rotating it, too. This strat dates to '91 and as far as I can tell, totally stock.

Thanks!

It's a TBX control.

From 0-5 it's a tone pot on a 250Kohm pot. The indent you feel is meant to be the pot completely open. From 5-10 is a 1meg ohm pot thats meant to act as a treble boost.

TBX = Treble Bass Expander. This option may indicate that you have a strat plus - my favorite guitar! How about some pixtures?

I suppose it is, but thankfully, most of it has moved on down the road. I spent the first 10 years or so of my adult life gigging in rock bands so the gear tends to accumulate if you're a gearhead.... 8)

Cool, thanks again nikininja. looked up TBX; factory equipment it seems. I like it: maxed out it gives my a nice chimey tone that me Les Paul can't touch! I'd love to have some of the sustain from Les Paul grafted on to this Strat though: it could ring like a bell. A compressor pedal will have to do i guess...

strataholic: it's definitely not a Plus, though I wouldn't be sad if it was!

my word, it's ok to list gear you dont own anymore????

#Here goes.
In order too, to the best of my memory.
REMOVED

That hurt my brain and in a lot of ways is a bit upsetting. I sold a load of good gear to obtain a completely useless exwife.

HEARD THAT!

That ridiculous list was mostly just rampant sentimentality...

aw shucks, thx nikininja

yeah, brings back a lot, no? my charvel model 4 and the competition mustang were sold to pay for a, ahem, procedure for my girlfriend....yikes. gave the pair away for $500 due to a mistake that $1 worth of latex would have prevented.

I mostly have no regrets, as I only play for my own amusement now, but the 4001 thru SVT thru 8x10 + 2x18 was one bad rig, especially since I never played to more than about 600 people. HUGE tone + HUGE dBs = ROCK!
