My Classic Players 50's has a screw-in trem arm. This might be a dumb question, but is there a way to adjust the tension on it? I'm not talking about the trem tension -- that's fine. What I mean is the tension on the arm itself when its positioned for easy reach. If it is screwed in all the way, the arm obviously stays in position, but it isn't exactly where I want it to be positioned for use. So, if I unscrew it (about 1 turn) to position it where I want, then its too loose and just flops down...

Sounds like you are missing the spring that goes in the trem arm hole. You can get a new one cheap at most guitar shops.

Oh, okay. The CP 50's has a different 2-point trem than the Am Standards so I wasn't sure it should have a spring... Thanks, I'll pick up one (and a few extras since I remember losing them when I had an Am Std)..

You can also wrap the threads with Teflon ( plumbers) tape.

Plumber's tape -- no problem, got plenty of that laying around... How much does it affect tone?

Ah, mojo, like the soon-to-be-released Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers album, titled "Mojo". Supposed to be very blues-oriented and featuring a lot of Mike Campbell guitar work.. gotta check and see what kind of plumber's tape he uses.. :)

Man - thanks for the heads up - this sounds like it will really be a good album!

Yeah, I'm a big fan of Mike Campbell -- a really under-rated guitar player in my opinion. I just got the "Surf-n-Burn" album by the Blue Stingrays, a great tribute to surf guitar by Mike. Actually, the Blue Stingrays were the Heartbreakers minus Tom Petty. They did the surf guitar album without using their real names... Now I'm GASing for a candy apple red Jaguar...
