I hate to hear that about your SRV Stat, I just wrote a letter to Fender about how little the Fender Stratocasters are bringing. What do you think

Hi,I just wanted to ask if anyone there has noticed that its getting hard to get your money back out of Fender Guitars? I have 14 Fenders and I am dissapointed in Fender for trying to flood the market with a Stratocaster in every price range to the point none of them will bring anything used. You make the inexpensive Squiers with better finishes than the Highway One USA made guitar. You have to spend 1500.00 to get a decent neck with some shine on it and as soon as you buy it you can't sell it for 500.00. I bought an American Standard Blizzard Pearl Strocaster two years ago and I saw one today on Ebay for 775.00 buy it now and no body has bought it after being on for 3 days. That really stinks because we all know they are worth more. A real good example is Harley Davidson. Thay did the exact same thing ten years ago. Every body thought they were a biker (Doctors & Lawyers) for example and Harley sold a ton of bikes, now they can't sell a new one for a good price if they had to but I personally picked up a Wide Glide in new condition with 31,000 miles on it for 4400.00. Soon your dealers will be in the same boat and then it will be your turn to start loosing money. How about taking a look at this before its to late. Gibson made the Studio models but they didn't give them away. Even the no Nitro finish guitars still cost 799.00. Help us all with this problem, Are You are going to be lookng for a job sooner than you think! DT

I always think about stuff I sold long ago, like a late '60s/early 70s Marshall 2x12 combo,or the '65 Sonic Blue Strat,it really makes me sick...yesterday I saw two '64 Strats in Guitar Center for $35,000,each!!!
But you can never go back....I have many old friends who did the same things.

I almost bought a new condition used American Strat for only $650 from Guitar Center! Guitar was awesome! They sold it two days after I saw it. Manufactures aren't part of the problem. Its economics, supply is up, demand is down. Prices are down because people need the money more then they need another guitar. Millions in the U.S. have lost their jobs. When it comes to paying the electric bill versus playing a SRV solo, well you decide.... Now we would think Fender and Gibson would drop their prices since the resale value has dropped a ton. I even found a mid 90's Strat in a very used condition for $500. I could almost sell the neck alone for that price internationally, but I wouldn't take the chance.

Its all been said, but family first. If your living alone; pack your bags, tell the land lady you got a job, and your going to pay the rent. Go to the bar, get yourself two shots and a beer.
I sold a Gibson at age 19 planning to replace it in a few months. Was almost 30 before I got a new one.

you cant eat a strat (well if you ground it up well enough maybe) you sure cant keep your family warm and dry with it....but you can buy a new guitar when things pick up....so if it comes down to it SELL SELL SELL.

THANK GOD that I didn't have to let my SRV go.
I do see the market flooded with every price of Strat, regardless of the quality. I mean something is wrong when guitar center will give $300 for a high end Squire or $300 for a Highway One. Quality wise the Highway One is light years better than any Squire. However they both fetch the same trade in price. I don't get it.

I'm still waiting for my first Gibson... I'm almost 34. But, I'm the sole income provider for a family of four.... So, it will just have to wait.... One day, that ES-335 will be mine!

Been there, done that. God only knows how many guitars I got rid of when I was younger and had to make ends meet. I know it sucks but sometimes you gotta do what is right for your situation. There are other SRV Strats out there. If you love it so much you can get another one when your money troubles are over. I have a few outstanding debts right now that aren't killing me but I could be happier if I didn't have them. I put my Kramer 5150 up on auction 3 weeks ago. No bidders as of yet though.

It appears Fender may offer a tiny amount of relief. The guitars hanging on the wall at my local Guitar Center are now $979 new... That's a whopping $20 off!!!

It only hurts for awhile. I had to sell my 2006 artist series Eric Clapton model. I lost some money on it but it can be replaced.
