I built several early '60s era Strat clones. They're all different colors and have different pickups. I guess I'm just a sucker for all the neat metallic custom colors from "back in the day". Thus far......

Teal Green Metallic, Robert Cray pickups
Candy Apple Red, 57/62 pickups
Firemist Gold Metallic, SCNs (hardtail)
Lake Placid Blue, DiMarzio Virtual Vintage

I've been jonesing for something in Ice Blue Metallic of late, perhaps with a set of the new N3 pickups. Or a Foam Green '50s hardtail with maple and Fralins. Mebbe next year......

I have a two tone sunburst Eric Johnson Strat that I love. I really want the EJ in candy apple red w/maple fingerboard.

I have five American Standards and two Strat Pluses. Different colours, different neck woods, different pickups. All play and sound different, and I like the variety. I know I'll buy more. They're like potato chips-you can't have just one!

My CustomClassic and American Deluxe were identical spec regarding hardware. I changed the pickups in the CustomClassic.

I have never collected the same model of any guitar. I can see someone buying a Standard and a few years later when the specs change, buying another Standard.

A favorite? Nah.....honestly I love the ALL! They ALL do sound different and I go to certain ones for certain things.

These guys ROCK the hardest:
The: Ebony Trans, Black, Walnut, and Sunburst.

These guy are incredibly "Stratty sounding"....(think 'Lenny', Riviera Paradise...ect...)
The: Amber, Wine Red, and Daphne Blue.

I usually bring 2 to a gig. A ROCKER and a Stratty one.

I'd have a 57 surf green, if I could spare the change. Alas, I only have my 57 2-tone sunburst. :D

I have 5 American Standards. I play them all. Might trade one for 8hank31's old 57... Right now I'm glad I kept so many. I checked several major online dealers yesterday and product is out of stock or low and no new stock before late May or July...ouch...
