My father in law has an older Fender/Squire blonde or antique white strat I'm trying to get dated. It was made in Korea and the serial # on the head stock is CN317108. It plays great and looks like it's only a few years old but he's had it for at least 15 years. He traded a Gibson semi for it years ago. Your help is appreciated.[/b]

This is a Fender Squire series with Fender on the headstock. Isn't Cort another brand altogether? Really the name doesn't matter because it actually plays better than any MIM Fender I've tried and was just wondering how I could find my own.

Neither Fender nor Squier have or ever had their own manufacturing facility in Korea (same goes for China, Japan, India, and Indonesia). Fender just hires out existing factories over there to produce guitars and amp for them and Squier. Your father in law's Squier was built in the Cort factory alongside other guitars that corporations outsourced to Cort also.
"Cort’s main production focus is not on Cort-brand guitars, but rather on contract work for numerous other companies. Generally, large companies contract Cort to build lower-priced guitars that have that company’s brand on them." - from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cort_Guitars

Ok I understand now. Thanks for the info. Maybe I can just get his because it plays and sounds so sweet. Just as soon as I get my Tele in two months which IMO is a better instrument altogether.
