Good tunes...You can't bring back the past but there is a new school of blues players just below the radar...If you get a chance check out Popa Chubby on you tube ..The name may be a little ahh whatever..But his playing is fantastic...

OK I got it with a cut and paste. Man he looks like he all of 17 there. While I'm on about my lack of computer skills... I just got a sweet 97 strat plus but when I tried to post with Photobucket it seemed such a PITA that I just gave up.

There must be an easier way??

I saw BB live back in February. Still got that guitar skill, although he did go on quite a few random tangents. So many random tangents he might as well would've stopped playing. There were mildly entertaining though...

But regardless, it was seriously awesome seeing BB King playing live. Nothing can replicate his playing style and sound.

Just my $.02 worth...

Like Buddy Guy, I have to say that I not only love listening to BB King, I also love watching him play. He just genuinely looks like he just really enjoys what he does. He just looks like there's no other place in the world he'd rather be or anything else he'd rather be doing. He's not only a legendary guitar player, he really is a legendary showman as well.

I have to agree with the OP that a lot of newer music I hear is actually pretty redundant and tends to lack much sense of inspiration. A lot of these newer, younger guitar players seem more focused on "speed" but a lot of them just really have no feel or soul to their playing. I also have to say that a lot of local younger groups that I've seen live lately (which granted, isn't really all that many)...I dunno...there almost seems to be this focus on trying to do things the hard way. Aside from a serious lack of skill as musicians, some of the guys...you gotta wonder how it is that they can really fool themselves in to believing they are any good. Ya watch people up and down the bar shaking their heads and everyone starts to head towards the door to have a smoke. Unfortunately from that local view point I think it tends to give live bands as a whole a really bad name...there's still a few of us around that do in fact like to play good music and are willing to put on a reasonably professional show.

Anyways, I think a lot of new groups out there today...stuff I've heard on the radio and such anyways, I think some of those folks could really learn a thing or two from BB King...both about what it is to be a musician and what it is to be an "entertainer".

Again, just my $.02,
Jim

(Thank you for sharing the link...it's wonderful to see some really good footage of BB when he was in his prime.)
