I've been looking around for either a Lone Star Strat or a Big Apple Strat from the Late 90's or Early 2000's. I am not interested in one of the more recent Mexican made Lone Star Strats. The thing is, I'm trying to find out which year they stopped doing the Long rectangular pickup cavity and switched back to the s-s-s, h-s-h, s-s-h routing options. I remember reading an article that talked about More Wood=More Tone, and something about the long rectangular cutout kind of bothers me. I have a 1997 American Standard Stratocaster that has that type of cutout, and can't figure out for the life of me why they did that. I'm sure it was so all bodies would work with multiple pickup configurations, but nonetheless, I don't like it. What year did they start making the lone star/big apple strats with the normal pickup configurations? Someone let me know, cause that's the kind I want!
