A good course to take at this point is to put a long Allen wrench down the hole with a 1 foot cheater bar and twisted that puppy 5 full turns.... clockwise....... (JUST JOKING!) be careful! as a striped head on, or broken truss rod is a "kiss of death."

   Yikes! That's a risky joke to make round here...!!! :D

Just to amplify why someone needs to see this neck with their own eyes: some types of straightness issue are addressed with fret levelling, rather than trussrod adjustment. Other times, there is a warp or hump in a particular spot that needs to be corrected, again by non-trussrod techniques.

Probably neither of those is the case here. But looking at the description in the original post we just can't know without seeing it. And measuring it too: eyes can be notoriously deceptive in this particular area.

Reasons for caution.

Good luck - C

Thanks Xhefri I took your advice and snapped it! you owe me a new neck brother.

Niki, wise words as always, thanks, you are right, it is definately a case of humility.

Thanks Gents, yes I do see the interplay between, the factors, truss rod, saddles , relief etc and like the discovery of fire something happened last night that has come into play. I tried tightening the trem springs closer to the body and found the playability much better. The tension in the strings seems to have lowered the strings slightly (allowed me to lower the saddles) and improved the feel. I know there is a good deal of debate about this but I have found better stability in tuning than when I floated the trem, although the trem arm may feel stiffer to use now.
This was late last night so I will double check after work this eve. I am slowly becoming more confident in such tweeking and assessing.

THanks to ALL who posted it has been noted

I have been told to only make 1/4 turns at a time and to allways check each turn you do.

Note- knowing what you are looking for when you check it is key to this excersise, if you are unsure- then take it to your local shop. Otherwise at the end of it all your strat will make expensive firewood :)

I dont think its as freaky as what some put it as- perhaps you should research the topic thoroughly before making an attempt of any kind.
