As always, it depends what you want to do, and to some degree your skill level as a Tele can often be less forgiving than a Strat. There's no right or wrong answer to your question because it's completely subjective. Only you can answer it.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

ignoring the overarching stratocaster/telecaster debate and just looking at those two specific guitars, in my opinion I like that specific Telecaster better than that specific Stratocaster. Although candy green might sway me!

Hmm... Very tough question. Theres not a lot to go on.

Iv often thought that everyone needs at least 1 Tele. If youre only gunna get 1, the AVRI '52 is the 1 to get.

The Ive never player the Clapton Strat, but Im not a fan of quitars that need batteries to work.

As always try everything & pick the 1 you like.

For those that dont venture out to other forums I think you guys would be in for a big surprise. I stop in on Harmony Centrals forum a bit as it is a neutral forum of players of every make. They had a post up sometime ago Tele or Strat and I was surprised to see the Tele was overwhelmingly more popular with other players. Last week they had Tele or Les Paul and there are a lot of cork sniffers on that site so I thought it was going to be onesided but the good ole Tele more than held its own. The Telecaster is one beloved guitar and my personal favorite by a slim margin.

It was such a hard decision for me that I finally own both of them (although neither of the specific models you mentioned). Really 2 different instruments but if you can only get one..... You decide!!!

Hey Carson, Well looking at the gear list in your signature, it seems you chose the '52 Tele. Good choice since you already have two Strats. It's nice to have variety. I assume you haven't responded to any of these posts in your thread because you are too busy playing your new Tele
