Hey all,

I bought a MIM Stratocaster last year off Craigslist, and just want a bit of feedback about what it's all about...

The guitar is an interesting mix:

-Brand new white body
-'60s reissue electronics
-Stock Pickups
-Original '95 Rosewood Neck
-Stock Hardware

I'm about to order some Vintage Original pickups from my local shop, and am curious to know if this will put my guitar in the quality range of any American Fenders out there. Let me know how the mods I'm making add up to making this a better guitar.

Thanks!
Devon

I'm not sure what "Vintage Original" pickups refers to but I've upgraded dozens of MIM '50s and '60s classic re-issues using various Fender CS pickup sets. The 57/62 set is nice, as are the CS '54's and the Fat '50s.

As for hardware, the single most significant improvement you can make will be to upgrade the trem block to solid cold-rolled steel, using either a genuine Fender replacement or the Callaham equivalent.

I also favor the Delta Tone control mod -- re-wiring the bottom tone control to the bridge pickup instead of the middle -- but that is purely subjective. Others prefer the "blender" option.

Best of luck, HTH\

Why don't you try something other then Fender pickups and go for a little different then the cattle. Try Rio Grande Vintage tallboys or Half-breeds another would be Bare Knuckle pickups, Mothers milk or the Irish Tours. I have turned a few on to the Bare Knuckles. No complaints an glad I did.
