Hey All,

I'm not sure if this is in the right place but regardless here goes; I have an American Deluxe Strat with an S1 system and SCN pickups. As most are I am not satisfied with the SCN's, I will be changing them for custom shop 69's. However, I have heard that changing the pickups on a guitar with an S1 system involves changing the volume pot or something to that extent. I have heard and read many different things on this subject and I am most confused. Can someone help me out?

P.S I don't care If I end up having to nix the S1...Don't use it anyway

As long as you're wiring in Fender pickups the wiring colors should all be the same. It should be as simple as remove and replace. Take a lot of reference photos and definitely download the S1 schematic. If you ever choose to use a pickup from a different manufacturer, you'll have to find a translation chart to ensure you're wiring it up correctly. Seymour Duncan and DiMarzio both use different combinations of wire color than Fender.

Firstly I'd make sure you want 69's. I cant find any practical application for them at all. A very terrible, thin sounding affair with no real power and next to no mids, in my opinion.

You can wire them to the S1, you need to solder some jumper wires between the circuit board terminals where the negatives of the neck and middle pickups join. And all them other places too.

Otherwise just put another volume pot in.
