Went into the guitar shop a year or so ago and they had this hanging on the wall for about $1,000US, not a bad price for Japan. This guitar retails in the 2800-3000 range over here. Anyway, I wasn't too thrilled with the EC Strats because a friend had one and the neck was really weird feeling to me. I knew about the V shape but his was really thick too. I hated it. So, I passed this one up many a time on various visits to the store. Then, one day I go in and they had it marked down to $880.00 so I thought to myself "It wouldn't hurt to at least take a look at it" so I got her off the wall and was pleasantly surprised to find that the neck was nothing like my friends. It's the V shape but it's not as.......baseball batty.....as his was. I wasn't too concerned with the amp I tried it through so I just grabbed the nearest thing to me which was a Line6 Spider III 30. For myself, I'm more concerned with the feel of a guitar than with the sound. If it sounds bad I always have the option of switching out about a billion kinds of pickups until something sounds good. But, these Lace Sensors are probably the first time I ever bought a guitar and DIDN'T change the bridge pup. So, I called the guy over and told him I'd take the guitar and the amp, I could use a simple amp at school when I'm working with my students. He said he could knock the guitar down to 800 and knock the amp down to 200 for an even thousand. Done deal. One of the best purchases I've ever made. I love this guitar.

Hey Mully very nice EC. This is another strange coincidence but last year I brought my EC in for a setup, and my friend Mike who owns the shop was talking about the neck and how different it felt from other ECs he had worked on which he said had much thicker necks. Now I only played a 7 Up Green before I bought mine in 02 which had the same neck as mine. So there is something weird here as yours is the earlier EC with the Laces, so it cant be that. But it seems to be not all the necks are of the same dimension on these. Weird.

Yeah, there are most definitely differences in the necks. Because of this experience it kind of makes me wonder if EC actually plays anything even remotely like this or if they just put his signature on the head. hehe!!

has never really seen Eric Clapton playing a guitar with his signature on the head....I'm sure he has, I just haven't seen it
