I recently got a MIJ Contemporary, I am in the midst of modding and finishing to tatse. I have a question regarding the abnormal sized, bridge position humbucker (made in Germany), this is a H-S-S configuration (at least for now). Is this humbucker a good one? I know it works, but did not play the guitar much before dismantling it. I play mostly classic rock and '80's hair band type stuff, so will this be suitable, or should I get a different pickguard ( S-S-S) and use my Seymour Duncan Hot Rails instead?

Funny you mention Hot Rails in the neck pos. Is it the one meant for that? Do you have it wired so it can be split or tapped? What other pickups are you using? I had thought of mounting my Hot Rails in the neck position (though it is a bridge pickup), and a switch to split the coils for single operation and am curious how that sounds.

I didn't post a picture of it, I was hoping someone actually familiar with these enough to know about the odd size of this humbucker, which is longer than the standard size humbucker and held to the body with three screws (two on top and one on bottom), instead of being mounted to the pickguard; could shed some light on it. I know it was made in Germany and has a resistance value of approx. 11.75K Ohms. I'm guessing Schaller made it.

Hey man My guitar tutor owns the same guitar and he said the stock HB sucks although i assume you'll want to use the Hotrails you actually have atm i recommend investing in something made by BareKnuckles as they will cover anything you desire...ANYTHING :D

Thanks,

(yeah i stole Ceri's sign off method  )

Thanks for the recommendation, I have actually gathered the pieces needed to go to a S-S-S pickup configuration, using two twin-blade styles including the Hot Rails. I am wiring them with a 5-way and a mini switch to allow for either the typical 5 pickup locations using humbuckers or splitting them to all singles. This should allow for a lot of versatility.
