I have been looking at a 59 thinskin strat .Apparently its a limited run American Vintage Series with a "modified "SRV neck with 6105 frets and a 9.5 radius fretboard.Just would like someones thoughts on the limited run thinskins. The guy told me they limit these to around 100 .I thought it would be a good compliment to my SRV due to the face that changing from the SRV to a modern C neck is such a drastic change.Anyone have any experiences with these guitars? Thanks in advance.

I bought one a month ago and it's a great guitar, the frets are really higher than what I'm used to,but the SRV might have those same 6105 frets,I'm not sure. The neck is chunkier than my "57 and '62 reissues so it fills up my hand. The only issue I have with it is the 1st string is close to the edge of the fret end and my finger would roll off some,my son is using it right now to gig with and he loves it,but I'm going to see if I can adjust the neck like some have said here....move it a little to get the string away from the fret end bevel.
Anyway, still a beautiful great sounding Strat, the pickups are really nice.

Thanks for the info.I really like the 6105s .However ,when I have to switch guitars, its quite an adjustment because playing the taller frets require a lighter touch.Since its a 'modified SRV " neck I would expect it to be a thicker neck.Oddly enough, my small hands have an easier time with the SRV neck than the modern c.Do the pickups have descent bottom end?

Man,she's going to make a great wife!
Mine came from Wildwood also...do you know if those pickups are the same as the Fat 50s? I think that's what people call them.
They sound really good to me,and I usually change my pups to Fralins or VanZandts, but not with the '59 or the '62 Hot Rod,they both sound wonderful...the '57 Reissue didn't sound as good and I changed them out,and funny but I believe they're the same as the '62....and the '62 is my new baby.
edit to add.....yep they have the bottom for sure.

I talked to Troy at wildwood and he said the pickups are similar to Fat 50s,but not the same thing. They are shipping it out on monday so it doesnt sit in a cold warehouse all weekend long.

Mike, I was seriously looking at the 54 in 2 tone sunburst, but in the end I really liked the 59 setup. It supposedly has a "modified SRV neck" and I just couldnt resist.Talked to Daves Guitar shop and they told me their 59 thinskins had American Standard pickups in theirs ,which i found kind of odd.I really wanted the 50s custom shop though.

I agree - the sunburst looks better in a two piece body. Still a very nice finish.

I was also impressed with this 59 thinskin strat's performance. My brother has a model of this and when he play it i have stop my work and listen its sweet tone. Its 2 Tone Sunburst, Alder body, single ply 8 screw pickguard, Big C neck all the features are really outstanding.

Yep,those features together really appealed to me.I am not a big fan of the 7.25 raduis, but I will play a 9.5 all day long. And I like the tall frets.I havent had a chance to hear the 50s custom shop pickups in person, but everyone tells me they are great.I picked the white blonde one because I really like the finish.I think it will be a great addition.

Well, the UPS guy brought me a white blonde 59 thinskin strat. An early wedding present from my fiancee and I have got to tell you this is one smokin guitar.Beautiful to look at and I really like the neck. Its a slab fretboard of the rosewood variety.Says its a modified SRV neck with 6105 dunlops. It is even more comfortable to play than my SRV.Its nitro rather than poly ,so of course the back of the neck feels a little different. The pickups are 50s custom shop (not to be confused with Fat 50s) and they have plenty of chime.Wildwood set it up and they did a really nice job.intonation is spot on and just a little room on the tremolo before it bottoms out.All in all a great playing guitar.I would post pics if I knew how.

I think it's just an issue of getting used to the 7.25. my '57RI is 7.25 and for me it was just a matter of getting accustomed to it. It bothers me not one bit anymore.
