I am playing a Strat that I installed the Mid Boost Clapton Kit in without any routing. The battery under the pickguard along with the PCB and extra wiring: is creating a space problem. I have seen remote 9 volt battery systems that might cure my problem without routing. Does anyone know of a good one? Thank You.

I had the battery inbetween 2 of the tremsprings for a good long time. It worked well. Great super easy access. The main problem I had was noise from having the circuitboard under the controls. I ended up buying a powerhouse body and just throwing the lot in that. It cost me £200 and sorted all those problems out.

You could just buy a router for £35

That idea of placing the 9v within the springs is a good alternative. One question: are you saying that your noise from the board began after you placed the battery within the springs? Or did you have the PCB noise since you installed the board under the controls? Your input is really helping me to move forward with this. I'm going to hit e-Bay and look for Powerhouse basket cases that I can resurrect a body from. Still like those "Sidevalves". Thanks.

The noise was from having the board under the controls, no matter where the battery was. Your just cramming too much into too small a space in my experience. Having the circuitboard away from there (below the middle pickup) ala the powerhouse/Clapton strats did more to quiet the guitar than anything else.

One warning, if you use the trem on the boosted guitar. Having the battery between the springs can cause a good bit of spring noise when you use the trem.

This is worth looking at.
