I would try the Deluxe Players Stratocaster or the Roadhouse Strat.

There are plenty. Why not have a look at either the Jimmy Vaughan Signature or the Kenny Wayne Shepherd Signature models?

If money is no object , take a look at the SRV.Its the fattest sounding strat I have.Great sustain for a strat. Its gonna depend more on the neck than the sound though. What feels more comfy. It can be the fattest, meanest sounding guitar, but if you dont like the neck, all bets are off.JMO.

for more sustain get a hardtail or just block the tail. also throw a set of .012 strings on it and your tone and volume will explode. i play a set of d'addario .012-.052 with the wound third exchanged for a .020. i compared it to my friends strat with the same pickups and .009-.042s and mine just blew it away. Stevie played .13s i believe

Don't be so quick to blame the guitar! What amp are you using??? It might that your amp is not giving you the fat sustaining sound you are looking for. The amp is the other half of the electric guitar equation. A cheap amp will make a million dollar guitar sound like crap.

I think that the best guitar for you is The Stratocaster 70s Vintage it has the perfect sound, and it was the same guitar that Hendrix played. Luck buying guitars and also you can later change the pickups for humbuckers and with thaht amount of money you could get a lots of really good things.

Thanks so much.

2 question more :

Can I replace a simple pickup for a humbucker ? Is there space?

What do you think about a delux stratocaster HSS , replace original simplu pickups for texas special ?

Thanks again

Deluxe. The extra push button to add the bridge pickup is pretty cool. And the blue looks awesome.

Hello Diiego you want a '54 to a 60's Strat that is what all those players used and do not get the 70's Vintage as someone suggested because the best Strats that Jimi Hendrix used for classic tone, fat sound and sustain were the early to late 1960's Rosewood neck Stratocasters-

The 70's vintage model is purely one dimensional rock, it is the White Maple neck Strat Hendrix uses on The Movie Woodstock and does not have such a great classic Strat tone- you need only listen to Hendrix's early 60's recordings to tell - all the best Strat's he used and all the other players you mentioned are the same as well...

Also I own an SRV Strat as well and it is a great guitar, fat and good sustain- I got lucky mine has a great neck, but the SRV has a unique deeper rounder sound; when compared to the brighter classic Strat tone- I am able to compare them side by side through my Marshall Stack and my 50's Blackface Fender 'Lux so you can take that as tried and proven

Lastly everyone loves me Playing Hendrix classics; because I have his Strat Tones "down" and I can pull his Mojo on Red House (Over Yonder) Hey Joe, The Wind Cries Mary, Little Wing, All Along The Watchtower, Manic Depression and Voodoo Chile (slight return) to name just a few. I also play all the other classic Blues and rock players of that same era as well...

Cheers and good luck 8)

One would think that from all the pics you see of him with a large headstock Strat. But at the time of his death, he owned over 200 Stratocasters (saw a book documenting the serial numbers and descriptions). Many of these (the majority) were pre-CBS 69's models.

I'd consider looking at the American Vintage Reissues (at $1200 you'll be looking at used, but could have a couple hundred or more left over). I've owned a '57 reissue, and currently own a '62 reissue. Both great guitars (leaning towards the rosewood fret board these days).

You should also check out some other Signature Series Strats. The Eric Clapton with it's active electronics is really hot (just got one, and I love it). And the Jeff Beck model might be just the ticket for you (again, these will be in the used market, but no worries, there are plenty of great used guitars out there).

Another consideration is American Vintage Thinskins strats offered by Daves Guitar Shop and Wildwood guitars. They are the same price as the regular American Vintage, but with diffeent appointments. They have 54,57,59 ,61 and 63 strats presently.I just ordered a 59 strat .It comes with a 9.5 fretboard instead of a 7.25.It also has 6105 frets and comes with custom shop 50s.Would give you more options other than the vintage set ups.
