hi, why on the Left Handed American Standard Stratocaster the 0.22 cap is placed on the 2nd tone while on the same guitar Right Handed it is on the 1st?

here's diagrams:

lefty http://support.fender.com/diagrams/stra ... 22APg2.pdf

righty http://support.fender.com/diagrams/stra ... 02CPg2.pdf

I see on the righty one the tone is operative on the bridge too, whereas on the lefty it is not connected.

is the circuit with the tone on the bridge that requires a cap on the 1st tone?

i've always wondered this...

thanx

Hmm, that's a good question. even though this isn't a custom shop question, I think this might be something Mike Eldred might comment on. he answered me on some other tech stuff, that had nothing to do with CS, or even specifically to do with Fender.

If you look close at the layout you will see that what you say is just the grounding point of the cap as a lead from the cap goes from one pot to another, hence they both electrically "see" a cap.

Ground is ground. It doesn't matter which pot, or ground (i.e. direct to jack) it travels to. Only that the tone lug is connected to one side of the cap, and the other side of the cap is connected to ground.
