i am getting ready to take care of my bad case of gas. i am considering the following guitars and would greatly appreciate any and all information you can share with me about them to help me with my decision. i have already played most of these myself and will spend the day i purchase one going to several stores and playing many guitars to find the right one. with that said, i really value the immense knowledge and experience that many members on this forum have.

please share with me your opinions about the following guitars. my search is down to the following: 57 hot rod strat, 57 avri strat, 62 hot rod strat, 62 tele custom, 52 hot rod tele, and G&L ASAT Classic BluesBoy Electric Guitar (link provided).

i play blues, country, jazz, and rock and roll. last year at this time i bought a 62 avri strat which i absolutely love. i also have a 52 avri tele, a mim strat, and a mim tele. i also have two nice amps a drri and a bassman ltd.

please share your knowledge. thanks in advance.

All of the guitars you mention are very nice. Hard to decide between them and you really can't make wrong choice. You already have a 62 AVRI Strat and a 52 AVRI Tele, so one of the Hot Rod Strats might be good choice for the sake of variety for you since it has a humbucker in the bridge postion, which I personally would find more useful than the humbucker in the neck spot of the Hot Rod Tele. I don't know enough about G&L's to comment on the BluesBoy.

I have a 57 hotrod. Whilst being a great guitar it may not suit your needs too well. Aside from the fretboard radius of the 62HR I cant see that offering anything more that your AVRI62.

You always get a great guitar out of G&L. Yet I'd ask myself, what does it give that your others dont?

Get a Jackson Randy Rhodes. (JK), maybe get a Clapton strat and really have all your tonal bases covered.

If it was me, I'd go with the 57. I like the V shaped back and I love the Tone Zone pickup. I've owned 3 Fender Strats in my time, one of them is with me now, a Clapton model, but the other 2, the day I got them, I ripped out the bridge pups and put in Tone Zones. The Tone Zone is my all around favorite pickup of all time. It's got balls if you need them but you can back it off too. You can always pull out the pot and put in a push/pull and wire it up for coil splitting if you absolutely can't do without a single coil in the bridge.

Sorry, I don't know a whole lot about the others. I think I read somewhere that the 62 has a round back neck. Not fond of that at all. But, ultimately, the neck shape is entirely up to whatever feels good in your hands.

No matter what you decide I'm sure you'll be glad you did it. And make sure to post pics when you get her home. :D
