My best friend, who I bought my 60th Anniversary Strat from, has a 1978 Strat, in Natural Finish with a Ash body and Black Pickguard and pups. Sounds great but it weighs a frickin' ton!

Mine weighs 7.2 lbs,but I think the body is Alder.

My 1975 3-tone ash strat weighs 9.05 lbs., the heaviest one I own.
Well, except for a doubleneck strat that comes in at 12.55 lbs.

My '74 looked an awful lot like the OP's when I acquired it in '76. But at the time, modifications were the cool thing to do - I got a bit carried away; over the years, I replaced the electronics with a Schecter tapped assembly and an Alembic Stratoblaster, the vibrato came off for a Rockinger Tru Tune, machines swapped for Schallers, Strap Locks, string trees, nuts, ... you get the idea. All that remains of the original guitar is the neck, body, claw and springs. Plus, I stripped the original 3-color sunburst for 1) exposed sealer, 2) barbecue flat black, 3) halloween orange, 4) exposed sealer again, and finally 5) antique cream. She's been through a lot and she's been around the world, but she is still my no. 1 guitar.Image[/img]

Great looking guitar!

Here are my two 70"s strats. On the left my first guitar, a 76 Moca, and on the right is a MM 70's reissue in natural. The 76 weighs a ton. An below that, a little collection of the fender collectible models. It really is a sickness isn't it?

I got this used strat at my friends store. It's a 1974 with the staggered pole piece pickups. It's all original except for a refret, new trem bar and an 80's Fender hardshell case.
