go to bunnings and get shellac, im pretty sure its a naphtha, i used it and it seemed to work, got all the surface rust off and cleaned up some of the heaver rust which i couldnt quite get off, but it go enough off to make me happy :wink:

i hope you mean you used 'shellite' shellac is something else altogether. i'm pretty sure shellite is a naphtha formulation, ask at the hardware store, hopefully someone there will know.[/b]

Oooh yes, sorry about that. i did mean shellite. its rebranded as fuelite in NZ. I found people in the hardware shops here didn't kno what naphtha was and had to do online research myself to find a specific product. then again, it would have just been workers who didnt really know anything.

hehe, i was just thinking how much fun you would have had later doing any kind of adjustments if you had coated your parts in shellac!! :wink:
