Minor question, I know, but is Blizzard Pearl white or gray? The pictures here on the Fender products pages make it look silvery, almost gray. What I'd really like to know is whether a tortoise shell pickguard looks good on a Blizzard Pearl Strat...

Its silvery-grey. Olympic Pearl is white.

I guess it would look interesting with a tortoise guard on :)

Sorta like a real pale pearlescent metallic gray (if that makes any sense)

I don't think tortoise shell would be a good fit but I'm betting that black moto pearl would look real sweet.

The Blizzard Pearl is quite close to a color Cadillac has used on their cars.
I'm sure other have, as well. It gives off a pearl glow when the light hits it just right, otherwise it looks to be a white color, not gray.
The tottoise pickguard looks good and it is especially good looking with the maple fretboard insetad of the rosewood.

"Pearl" and "candy" are official names for certain metallic type paints. Here's a whole website on the subject:

http://www.paintwithpearl.com/

Regarding pickguards, not sure tortoiseshell would be ideal with Blizzard Pearl, but a white or off-white pearloid can be a good look. In fact, didn't Fender do a Mexican Deluxe with that combination a few years ago...?

Cheers - C

I agree. The white pearliod would look outstanding.I have a chrome silver with a white pearloid and it looks great.Of the tortoise shell, I think it looks good with brownish or reddish color guitars, but not on the blue/gray/silver ones. One of Fenders mistakes imo is putting it on the blue transparent MIM Deluxe Player strat.Ugly, bleeck.
