Sure, why not?

I love this part of the story:
Deluded eBay Guy wrote:
When I had finished the guitar, I had the pleasure of meeting Eric Johnson in person, as I was very interested to see what he thought of my luthier craftsmanship. I told him, "I would like you to sign the back of the headstock, but only if you approve of how the guitar plays, sounds and feels. I do not want your signature on it if you do not approve of the guitar as one you would play." Mr. Johnson picked up the guitar after the show he had just played, and fiddled with it for about a good 5 to 10 minutes. Afterwards, he just merely smirked, flipped over the guitar, grabbed a Sharpie, and said, "Nice work." He then signed the back of the headstock. [emphasis added]

If this really did happen, it sounds to me like Mr. Johnson was patronizing him at best and making fun of him at worst.

So are you going to buy it, Chet? :P

I noticed the truss rod insert is gone or something is amiss there... it should be black but I can't quite tell what's wrong by the photo. It could be gone, in which case I am suspect the guitar is genuine at all. The vintage tuning machines look pretty rough.

But really... it doesn't matter except to the buyer. 8)

I could be wrong but the mexican 50's reissue that it appers to be dosen't have the black truss rod peice in the headstock. Still a bogus deal though. Maybee he has it listed as a left hander because He uses his left hand for chording? You would think if he had the schooling he claims he might know that, HMMM.......

Ya I just checked the Fender website and the 50's reissue had a wood peice in the headstock because the adjusting is done by taking off the neck. In the pics if you enlarge them there apperas to be one of the same kind.

There you go Chet. A lefty too LOL :D I noticed all the bids on it. It's gotta be hard to walk with boys that big. That's why I never buy guitars or amps for that matter from fleabay.

The scary part is, not only isn't he, but he's touting it as the greatest thing since sliced bread. It begs the $64K question though: If this (per him) is the end-all of all Strats, why is he trying to unload it with more hype than I've heard from usual political candidates?

What I find highly suprising is the body. No visible join on the top (Ok I know the photo's not clear), and a visible join on the back about 1/3rd of the way down, level with the tummy cut. The tummy cut itself isnt a block colour, it is bursted. Is that usual on any Mexican strat?

I dont see any reason why it may not be a nice guitar. The guy has mislabeled it though. It should have been sold as a 'signed by' guitar.

Dude, "HuevosCaster" is more like it. The guy who put it together must have a serious "pair" to ask that price. It may play wonderfully, but you can buy a new all Fender Strat for less.
