Post subject: What is the benefit of a heavier tremolo Block ?

I have read many times of people upgrading there Strats by installing a heavier Tremolo Block...What does this do for the guitars tone or play ability?Is it a gimmick that doesn't really do much or the real deal?

From what I have read and have experienced it is supposed to add more sustain. I have two guitars with a bigger tremolo block and one guitar with the smaller tremolo block. I have to admit the bigger trem blocked guitars do ring out longer.

I believe the logic behind it, is it add more mass to the guitar and improves sustainnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn instead of just sustainnn 8)

It makes for a more destructive projectile. :lol:

In addition to what's been said, a lot has to do with the block's metal composition and the quality of its machining.
