Well said, I'll say when I was a youngster and bought my first Memphis Les Paul, it's taken quite a few years to figure out what you just dropped on us. The player makes the music and the Guitar makes the sound. And value and beauty is in the eye of the beholder and "ones man's junk is another mans treasure". 8)

Thanks for all the input, my new Deluxe Players Strat arrived today! I went for the Sapphire Blue, I wanted something different.
It's sweet and plays like a dream, even better than the one I tested out at GC, The neck handles great and the gold looks pretty cool too.

The older gutars from qualitity manufactures may cost more but maybe worth the expense since they are much better quality guitar usually made by hand crafted experts. They have much get sound and accoustices then many of the new ones which fall apart or just don't hold the same sound quality. Part of the problem for the cost is both people that are musican and collectors want these guitars and let face it that drive up the price.

If your a serious musican and want the best then you should find one of these old beauties however beware of conterfit or colons of the better guitars since this is big business. If you can't afford it or just can see shelling out over $500 buck or more for a old guitar then maybe you should look as some of the better new ones since there are some new brands that give you a good value and great guitar for the money.

Anyone want to list some good guitars? along with cost just list them here to pass along to others.

John

Each time I've bought...........it was my intention of keeping the guitar for life. I still have all of them. I buy them to play........no to sell later.

I'm really happy with my choice, I love the Deluxe Player's, my major concern about losing value was that there was an issue with quality or problem with the MIM guitars. Thanks to all the input from all of you, I immediately saw any concerns were unfounded. I have some sample coming from the folks a pickguards.com I'm looking into maybe a contrasting blue pick guard.
