I recently acquired a 2004 American Deluxe Strat 50th Anniversary Edition. I traded my 97 American Deluxe Jazz V bass for it. Now some guy wants to trade his 08 American Deluxe Telecaster for the Strat, but I'd have to kick in $250. I've always coveted Telecasters, soil tempted, but I have this aching suspicion that if I make this transaction, I'll regret it.

I'm not much of a Strat fan, but I do think the 50th will retain more value over time than an ordinary Tele Deluxe. Am I off base on this line of thinking?

G'day Mate, well it's obvious enough that other people are very interested in your Strat.

I would go with the facts of that and keep your anniversary Deluxe.

I've seen 04 anniversary deluxes sell for up to £1800($2783). They were only £1100 new. Theres two on ebay now, one for £1350 ($2087), the other for £1395($2157). I saw one go up for sale at £2400($3711), I dunno if it sold for that price.

I think your mate has a bit of a cheek. With mates like that who needs enemies.
