I posted this over on the Moderan Amp board:

In short, I have an Acoustasonic SF II for my A/E and I've been leaving the amp on the ship I work on. Another guy left his MIM Strat onboard and I've been playing it thru my amp for a while now. Most guys bring little practice amps underway (there's a Pignose in the shop) , so this is a nice commodity to have.

Anyone else using a Strat thru and Acoustasonic?

I used to keep my Acoustisonic Jr upstairs by my computer and my Blues Deluxe in the basement for volume levels but decided to put my Acoustisonic away and just use the Deluxe for the better tone. It's a nice clean amp but just doesn't have the good tube sound I like.

I'm with you on that. It's a great clean sound to practice with, but kind of sterile. Nothing beat the sound of tubes breaking up. I love my Lone Star BTW. You can get the sweetest cleans and all types of punchy mojo-laden breakup tones. What an amp!

The Acoustasonic on the other hand is great for what it does. I use it mostly for playing my Ibanez acoustic/electric and sometimes I use both channels at once for vocals and guitar. I'm not a giging singer/songwrite which is the demographic I think the amp was intended for. I recently aquired a mandolin, so I'm gonna learn some basics and mic that baby up and see what it sounds like thru the AS.

I've used mine for countless small gigs with my acoustic and it never failed me. I've dropped it on its face a bunch of times on the ice and watched it slide down the parking lot. It's a great amp.

Ha ha! Mine got crushed up pretty good in rough seas once and it just kept on ticking. I had to get a few new knobs when we got back and it was like new.

My handle stripped out of its hole on one side and I had to fit a big washer on the inside of the case and on the outside to refasten. I considered that "antiquing."
