Post subject: What wood was the body of the MIM Satin Finish Fender Strat?

I was wondering wot my MIM Satin Finish Strats body was made out of as its heavier (in weight) than any typical strat I've played. Thanks.

A lot of MIA Strats are alder but I believe that the MIMs are poplar,if my memory serves me correctly I'm pretty well sure that the specs that came with my '00 MIM Strat said poplar.Maybe basswood is used also as they are generally cheaper woods and help keep the cost down.

It's very difficult to determine the type of wood without seeing the grain as different woods have different grain patterns.
