hi all,

i'm looking for a mexican fender but i can't seem to get what i want. i am looking for:
maple neck/ fretbooard
22 frets
2 pivot trem
would like hss but could settle for sc if i have to
i could go for ash or alder.

it's not a huge list but i just can't get that combo except in the lite ash strat... that one's no longer made though. can anyone give me a link or a name to look for? thanks.

No you need a American Standard HSS.

Classic player's 50s Stratocaster has all those except it has 21 frets, and is all single coil.

If you want a maple neck/fretboard, but have a 60's profile your limiting yourself a lot. Your pretty much stuck to a 68 reissue with a laminated maple fretboard. To get that with 22frets and a 2 point trem with HSS pickups, your going to have to go customshop and have a one off built.

i know they are not common! i've just come acroos a second one though. there is the lite ash strat... and this one. (3 sc though.)

http://www.dolphinmusic.co.uk/product/1 ... ewood.html

i could leave off the humbucker. i like the idea of this one. is it termed an american strat though? this too seems like it will be discontinued and may need tracking down!

Good luck finding a two point trem on a MIM strats. That's an American part you won't find south of the boarder.... Even on Deluxe/Signature strats....

does that mean the roland ready is an american strat? it has in that link (above) a 2 point pivot! the lite ash and alot of the squires also have 2 pivot trems.

Squires have a narrower vintage style tremolo. Roland Ready is Mexican.

Not necessarily true. Some Squiers ( The Standards and deluxes) have 2 point trems

Has there been any MIM with 22 frets? I don't think so.

I stand corrected. The standard and deluxes have two point tremolo's and 22 frets. Those are not typically seen very often because those guitars new sell for MIM strats used. No one buys Squires other then Affinity/Bullet verision and Jam packs for that reason...

That's a generalization, and a bad one. The standards are $199 new if I'm not mistaken and the deluxes are around 280, used they go for a lot lower than that. PLenty of people buy them, because believe it or not they are actually pretty decent guitars, and the not everyone thinks highly of the MIM standards. I have "High End" Squiers as well American artist series, Custom Shop, and vintage Fenders. I don't know where you have been but the Squier Classic Vibe line has been selling like hot cakes and they are $350-380 new

Why buy a Classic Vibe when you can get a deluxe series for the same price used?

Because it was a nice guitar, it played well, had great fret work, amazing neck, was setup properly and it had the vintage chime that I was after. A guitar that calls to you calls to you. I don't get stuck up on the brand. I've never played any deluxe series that had as nice a neck as the one on my CV, and wouldn't trade my CV for most MIMs, well except for a Classic Player ( I had one and foolishly sold it :( ).
