I accidentally put 10's on a used squier strat, not knowing that 9's are the stock gauge string for strats. What will be the general difference in the strings? I know that 9's should be easier to bend but how about the difference in tone? I mean the guitar sounds fine with 10's but am just wondering what's the difference if I were to chage them back to 9's? I never really played it with the original string on it so I have no point of reference. Thanks.

Well the slightly heavier gauge should thicken up the tone a bit, but just make sure that you dont need a little tweaking for the heavier strings. It usually is a rule of thumb to give a set up when changing strings but sometimes it may not be needed.

Hey townsquier! Don't worry about it at all. I have .10s on my Squier Strat, and it sounds great. Generally you should do a complete set-up on the guitar (saddles, truss rod, trem claw, etc.) to make sure everything intonates properly; however, you have certainly not done any harm to the guitar by moving to the new string gauge. Feel free to experiment and see what works best for you. Enjoy! 8)
