I am so excited. My vacation check from my former employer came in last week and have had GAS ever since. I thought about getting a Lone Star or Roadhouse Stratocaster, but they left me feeling a little wanting. I played a couple Classic 60’s Stratocaster; they weren’t what I was looking for. I finally succumbed to my heart and played the American Special again. I still was not impressed by the HSS model, and then I tried the SSS model. Long story short I pulled the trigger on the CAR SSS American Special. It is awesome. It had the tones I was looking for. I really like the maple neck. I couldn’t be any happier about my purchase. I am torn as to which guitar is my #1 and which is my #2; all I do know is my Squier CV 60 is my new #3. More to come once I pull all the film off the pickguard and tremolo plate. Here are a couple pictures.

BTW I got a killer deal on it, $692 before taxes. Walked out the door for a cool $750 and a new set of strings. Of course it came with a Deluxe Gig bag, polishing cloth, and the standard case candy...instruction manual, allen wrenches, and stickers. Surely beats $799 plus tax. The guy says if it needs a set up in a week or so to bring it back and they'll set it up. I thought it was fine just like it is, but I will check intonation more closely tonight.

Now that is one beautiful strat. I'm quite sure it sounds as good as it looks.
Nice choice and a pretty good deal as well! Enjoy

Sweet guitar, the 60s Strats were the best as far as I'm concerned so if the new 60s series are faithful to the originals they should be great.

Great looking axe. Good luck with it, agree with the others who love the color.

The 60's I played were good, but not as clear sounding as the American Special I bought. Like I said I did try out a few different models, but knew the American Special was the one for me. I really like those jumbo frets. And the pickups are great. This will be my last guitar purchace for a long time, unless another deal comes that I cannot say no to.

Thanks to all. I played it most of the night. I checked the intonation last night and it is right on target. Today I plan on pulling the plastic film off the pickguard and Tremolo plate. I just never got around to it last night...too busy playing it.

This pretty much takes care of my GAS for a long time. I now have mostly everything I need or want.

Congrats! I could tell from the other threads that you were really GASsing for an American Special and I'm glad you were finally able to take one home. She's a beauty, too. I love Candy Apple Red.

Enjoy! 8)

John

Great guitar! Good deal too. My only issue with MIA Special is superfical. I don't like the CBS era headstock. They should have an option for the 60's headstock. Highway 1 used to have those...
