I have a 2004 MIA Stratocaster, with 3 single coil pickups. Trouble is, I don't think the bridge pickup has enough power in it, especially compared to my 2009 MIA Telecaster.

Do you think it would be worth replacing it with something else, and if so what?

I would like to stick to Fender pickups as they have not let me down so far.

And also, would a higher output single coil, or a humbucker be better?

I don't want to turn it into some metal shred guitar, I don't play stuff like that. More classic rock - think Springsteen type sound?

Thanks for your views :)

An American Strat is worth dropping a lead pickup in. There are many choices. Most are aftermarket. Seymour Duncan has a selection of "Strat Sounding" pickups. Dimarzio has pickups called "Area" pickups. Bill Lawrence is another excellent source for Strat replacements. Fender pickups are often sold in sets. You Tube has an audio sample of just about all guitar pickups.

I am contemplating one of these two for my Strat.

+1

Pickups can sound radically different after minimal height adjustment. Some experimentation might save you the cost and hassle of installing a new pickup.

+1 the bridge pickup is a hotter pickup with about the same resistance of the Texas Special bridge pickup.
