I don't know how many of you here like to "build" your own custom Strats using sites like Kisekae, etc., but I've known about such sites for years and I'm currently using them quite frequently to plan out modifications to my current guitars, especially for the rebuild of my first Strat.

While my Jaguar is my main guitar, I know I will never put down any Strat and still frequently use my MIM.

I thought I would share one of the final designs for my "signature" Stratocaster.



Basically, I want a Fat Strat equipped with a hum with it's own distinctive tone that is unmistakably Fender so there's a Fender Wide Range hum at the bridge instead of a P.A.F. or Burstbucker or whatever. The single coils are going to be either Tex-Mex pickups, Texas Specials, or those G&L deals with individually adjustable pole pieces; not quite sure just yet. There is only a master volume knob (with coil tap) and a master tone knob and between them will be a five-way toggle switch; I chose to go this route because I sometimes will knock the MIM's five-way selector switch out of position during more intense downstrokes. Next to that is a three-way switch ... think Gilmour (Middle: switch is unactivated, Up: bridge/neck together, Down: all pickups off). The neck and fretboard both are maple and I'll be using a roller-type nut with Schaller-style locking tuners; I've used rosewood fretboards for years and I think it's time for a change of tone.
