must say, I am shocked by the responses.
This is just what I've heard, don't take it as truth or my experiences, but I was always told that the Classic Series aren't very good quality at all.
Where as, I know the Classic Players are really really good.
But you should just try them both out!

I'm shocked!
The Classic series are of the same quality as the Classic Players.
The Players have some modern updates like a flatter radius, two post bridge etc.

i see, i was heavily misinformed.
I do love the 57/62 pups in the CP 50's though, but something that annoys me about it is; rather than having a Neck/Middle position that slot is filled with Neck/Bridge. Being a big user of the Neck/Middle position, its annoying, I'm sure its a small job to get fixed, but I'd like to buy a guitar, and not have to worry about changing something.

I'm SO GLAD you pointed that out to me.

I was seriously thinking about purchasing a Player 50's Series and I hadn't noticed in the specs that the 4 position is neck/bridge and not neck/middle.

Why even buy a Strat if you can't get that classic tone?

I had my Player 50's like that for awhile but I changed it to standard strat wiring. I also put the lower tone control to the bridge pup. Sounds great now! It's only a 15 minute job. No big deal to do at all.

I had a Classic Players 50s in two-tone burst. I thought I would love the soft-V neck, but it never really grew on me. I also do not have a tube amp which I think is the way to get the best tone from the thing so I ended up selling it. I bought it for $400 and was able to sell it for $550 so it was an easy decision to sell.

All in all it looked, felt, and played like a very expensive instrument. I never played the classic series 50s guitar, but I did have a classic series 60s. The fit and finish on the 2008 Classic Players were vastly superior my 2004 Classic Series 60s guitar.

My classic 60s was nice too, but the neck plate did not sit quite flush with the edge of the guitar. It actually overlapped and stuck out a little bit and it was ground down either by the factory or the original owner.
