Go and check out some stacked humbuckers which are the size of your single coils and do not call for routing out your ax and killing the resale value. Dimarzio and Seymore Duncan make a great variety to choose from.

I recommend the L-45S from Bill Lawrence ( http://www.wildepickups.com/Home_Page.html ). They are on the Twin Blades page.

4 wires on the single coil sized humbuckers will allow you to coil split. A push/pull or a toggle will have to be added.

Tell you what Chet the more I see of Bill Lawrence the more impressed I am. I had comnpletely forgotten that Diamond Darrell wouldnt use pickups by anyone else and that Bill's L500 was the first pickup ever to be reverse spec'd.

It's all got me wondering about a QFilter, unfortunately there are no dealers I can see in the UK.

Now Chet your a man with contacts. Can you get me a price please, I cant find it on Bill L's site.

Your a prince amongst men mate.

I sent the mail to your hotmail account. I'm on a mice powered laptop and cant get my regualr email client working. I think it needs a bigger rodent on the treadwheel. May upgrade to a hamster.

I've replaced the bridge PU on mine with a Seymour Duncan JB jr. Fits right in , I installed it in about 20-30 minutes and I was playing again. Great classic Rock sounding Pickup. If you don't have a coil tap pot or switch, just soldier the two tap wires together. There's your Humbucker 8)

BTW: I should mention that the ONLY place to get Bill Lawrence pups is directly from Bill and Becky Lawrence.

Yes, a Gibson-style humbucker will fit but the pole positions will be off due to the different string spacing. To get that right you need to get "F spaced" humbuckers. I know Dimarzio makes F-spaced humbuckers; there are other makers too, I believe.

The 4-wire humbuckers are to allow coil-splitting.

I've got 2 Dimarzio Pro Tracks in one of my Strats. They are single coil sized "dual rail" humbuckers, I'm very happy with the sound.

FYI: Any of Gibson's "T" model HBs such as, "490T", "498T", etc. have wider polepiece spacing and line up with Strat string spacing. Additionally, with a 4 conductor lead, you can also wire both the pickup's coils in parallel. This mimics a single coil sound but the pickup still remains humbucking. Moreover and very importantly, once wired, if the HB is out of phase with the Strat pickups, the HB's lead/ground wires can be reversed wired so that it will be in phase with the other two.
