HI FOLKS. I OWN SEVERAL VINTAGE STRATOCASTERS FROM 1972-1974 WHICH I PLAY RELIGIOUSLY IN A VARIETY OF GENRES (TWO ROSEWOOD BOARD AND ONE MAPLE-NECK).
YESTERDAY I PURCHASED AN UNMODIFIED "CORONA CALIFORNIA" STRATOCASTER FROM A FREIND. THE NECKPLATE HAS "CORONA CALIFORNIA" AND A STICKER WITH THE LETTERS "CE" ON IT. THE SERIAL NUMBER IS N8354408 INDICATING A BUILD YEAR OF 1998.
THE GUITAR SOUNDS AMAZING AND WILL GIVE MY VINTAGE STRATS A RUN FOR THEIR MONEY.
CAN SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME ANY INFORMATION ABOUT THESE GUITARS?
THANK YOU.

That would be an American Standard Strat! I have a 1999 Am. Std.(lefty) that I ordered right from the factory, and the neck plate says Corona California. I guess Fender started putting those on when they opened up the new factory in Corona. By the way, I also have a couple old Strats, and my 99 Am. Std. is my favorite Strat to play!!! I love the action on the satin finished neck compared to the old laquered finished necks!

Thanks NedEye. Really like this guitar. What does the "CE" stand for?

It's just a sticker indicating that the guitar meets the EU's product safety directives. I never did find out what the letters C and E actually stood for.
