Strat or a Fender Jaguar.

Im not going to say what type of style of music i like in guitars, but i do like how Strats are made in America or atleast more than the Jaguars are.
In fact i think the Jaguar is made in Mexico and Japan, but that doesn't matter.

Anyway, what i am looking for in a guitar is

Strength (does it damage up easily)
Style ( Does it have a sexy look to it )
Weight ( Is it heavy or light )
Which will last long.
Which gives the most for the price.

Thank You!

I strongly suggest going to the store and playing as many guitars as you can... just go with what feels the best or most comfortable.

Personally I like the strat... but there are other guitars too ...like a tele or whatever...

I've played, owned and traded many guitars in my life. It is interesting to discover that over the last 35 years, I wish, I wish, I never traded or sold any of them. I've owned a no-name Ibanez, an Aria hollow-body, a Gibson Marauder, a Telecaster, a Hagstrom hollow-body, an Ibanez Iceman (these two I traded for a 1976 tri-bolt Strat) my best sounding guitar STILL, an Ibanez Artist, a Fender Black Japanese Strat, a Fender Jazz Bass, an Ibanez SR-4 and SR-5 string bass, and an Ibanez S-Classic.

My point: each guitar has its own unique qualities and applications. Indeed, my Stratocasters are the toughest of the lot. I've thrown them in the air and had them land on their backs, bounced them off of their strap holders, stood on them, played them with my feet and so forth. My Ibanez S-Classic would never stand up to that kind of, shall we say, abuse.

I've never had the honor of playing a Jaguar, but I'd like to try one. Personally, my Stratocasters just feel right and sound right. I've gone down to the music store to try a variety of guitars from various manufacturers. In the end, I always pick up a Strat and it always feels and sounds right.

Cheers,

hehe my mid 80's Ibanez hit the frozen highway at 70 MPH or so, and only the case broke. funny how 'inferior' bolt on neck guitars are so much more durable than their glued on cousins.

Every thing you listed has nothing to do with how a guitar plays which is the most important. Just buy a 2 by 4 and you will have what you asked for.

Thanks for keeping that a mystery, I always wanted to use my mind reading skills. You might find the Srat more versatile.

American Vintage '62 Jaguar
http://www.fender.com/products/search.p ... 0100900883

Strength (does it damage up easily) Strat and Jag both do not damage easily, but the '62 reissue has a nitro color and top coat so....
Style ( Does it have a sexy look to it ) That's subjective. I think Jaguars are ugly. Will my personal taste in guitars dictate what YOU want?
Weight ( Is it heavy or light ) Guitars are made of wood. Every peice of wood is different. Every guitar is different, try them all.
Which will last long. Yes. Ever play a vintage Strat or Jag?
Which gives the most for the price. Gives most what? Enjoyment? - YOU decide. Resale price? - Strats seem to be more popular on the used market

A Stratocaster, of course.

I have several Strats and one MIA Jag both are sturdy great looking guitars and both are capable of many tones and about the same weight however the Strat does have a better vibrato and a broader tonal range so probably the Strat would be the better choice.

If you like the "snappy" (read 'nasal') short, 24-inch scale......

If you prefer fiddling with a myriad of switches and knobs......

If you enjoy the world's worst tremolo and bridge......

If you relish more chrome appointments than a '55 Buick Roadmasterl......

If you crave an overweight instrument......

Then by all means, indulge yourself with the Jaguar

If God were a guitar, He'd be a Fender Stratocaster

('nuff said)

Arjay

Guess I'm gonna have to be the one to break the chain here. I personally prefer the Jaguar. I've played my friends custom shop Strat as well. I prefer my Jaguar to it. It "feels" better to me in playability and sturdiness. Incase you were wondering, I own a Jaguar Special HH in black. It's a mighty fine guitar which I completely recommend. However I'm not sure if it's worth the over 800$ price tag. I got mine for a bargain at 300$ because a wire connecting the pickups was loose. Hopefully you can have my luck.
