It's new. I don't know if they have ever used it on anything else though.

I'm fairly sure it's new too. I tried a Deluxe V neck and I was blown away. It was very, very comfortable to play.

Thanks, I was aware! I believe USAG do also.

I've often wondered If they make much of a difference, as I like a low action.

The Compound Radius Neck sounds like it's a wonderful thing.

It's a pitty that it has Perloid Dot Inlays in it.

The Jackson/Charvel side of the house has been doing them for quite some time...

Yep, a compound radius means LESS hand fatigue and easier playability.

I think Fender is going to expand that feature on other models (American Standards, some Artist Series) when the demand for compound-radiused necks increase.

The Passing Lane (aka the "Blower") system is also a good addition. Many other guitar manufacturing companies such as Suhr and Yamaha had already adopted the "blower" feature on their guitars. Fender's response to the "blower" switch has been delayed for a very long time.

On the other side, I'm very displeased for the lack of a locking bridge option on the new Deluxe HSS. I'm fond of humbucker-equipped Deluxe Strats equipped with a Fender/Floyd Rose locking tremolo and the new Deluxe HSS doesn't use that feature any more, Fender discontinued this product in 2007 and SHOULD reintroduce it.
