I am going to change the pickups on my new Am. Std. I am thinking Texas Specials or FAT 50'S because of the RW/RP middle pickup. Also, would there be any wiring or tone issues that I should consider concerning the Delte Tone feature?

Any thoughts/suggestions would be appreciated.

I'd go with the Fat 50's but that's just my personal preference. If you like the thick creamy sound of a strat and you really want it to stand out, I'd recommend the Fat 50's. However, if you want that strat tone & a little more boost in the treble to cut through the loop, I'd go with the Texas Specials. :)

Ild second the Fat 50s.

By installing 50s you will set yourself apart from the crowd, some what like Fralin Blues Specials or G&L MFDs.

I say neither, find something outside of the box and use those, find something that will help you maximize your tone while finding a different and unique tone of your own from the masses that use the pups you mentioned. Maybe have someone custom wind some pups to your specs and get exactly what YOU want.

I just noticed that youre in Canada.

If you are truely lookin different you could talk to Jon at J S Moore. He will custom wind you a set for you. I bought a set he made for me.
Here is Jons web site

go with texas special...nice warm, vintage, punchybluesy sound...remember to set the pickup height low close to the pickguard to get the optimal sound

I'd gladly trade my TS for American Standard PU's. A little too much for me, I prefer a mellower tone...

Not sure if this tidbit will help or if it's even relevant to your decision but here goes anyway.

Despite the fact that the official SRV signature model comes with Texas Specials (a decision that was made AFTER his death and so obviously was not his actual final choice) the pups he used were actually pretty close to the CS Fat 50's. I only mention this because a great number of people feel that the SRV sound is the epitome of Strat tone and so they gravitate towards the Texas Specials because that's what's installed in his Sig. model.

(Actually though, his tone came mostly from his guages, tuning and hands but that's another issue completely and has nothing to do with your PUP decision.)

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.
